FRIENDS OF THE FLOCK

We can’t do this without you.

You can show your love and support for our animals by becoming a

FRIEND OF THE FLOCK.

and bunnies too!

The Cook's Garden has been a sanctuary for animals in need for over a decade. Our journey began twelve years ago when we opened our garden and adopted our first flock of chickens from a family facing eviction. These beloved birds inspired us to create a safe haven for other animals in similar situations.

Over the years, we've expanded our sanctuary to include chicks hatched at local schools, rescued turkeys and ducks, and most recently, abandoned or adopted bunnies. In 2022, we were asked to take in a disabled bunny named Jelly Bean, and since then, we've rescued or adopted ten more. We've even built a temperature-controlled bunny bungalow to house them comfortably and safely thanks to the generous donations from our community.

We're committed to answering the call to rescue or adopt whenever space and funding allows. With your support, we can continue to provide a loving home for these animals. You can help by donating your time or making a monetary contribution.

We have always been committed to giving our animals a "forever" home despite the growing cost of doing so. You can help us reduce this major cost by making a cash donation (one-time or recurring), contributing to our long-range fundraising or purchasing organic feed and supplies on our behalf. Here’s how…

It all started with the adoption of a special needs bunny, Jelly Bean, and her BFF, Blue.

You can use Venmo to make easy cash donations by scanning the QR code on the right.

  • For donations over $100, we’ll give you and your family a private tour inside the chicken run for an “up close and personal” experience with our flock.

  • For donations over $500, you and your immediate family (up to 4 people) will join us for a “Bunny Happy Hour” watching our warren play and frolick in the early evening while enjoying light nosh and beverages.

You can also choose to donate to our on-going GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to make ongoing upgrades and repairs t0 our current coop and bunny bungalow at The Cook’s Garden. We’ve raised a bit over $4,000 so far which allowed us to put a new roof on the coop, make coop repairs and build a new bunny bungalow for our adopted and rescued bunnies.

We are also working toward building a new The Cook’s Garden small animal sanctuary at Westminter Elementary School where we will relocate our animals when the hotel project breaks ground on our block in 2026/27. Our goal for that project is $10,000. Go to gofundme.com/raisethecoop to donate or use the Venmo QR code above.
